Our Time in Austin with Friends

Our drive from Bandera to Austin was quite pleasant. Driving across the United States has been daunting at times, especially for Noah. With that said, we welcomed the “not so long” 2 hour drive north. Our amazing friends, Brandy and Michael live on Lake Travis and welcomed not only the three of us into their home, but also our three pups. In order to keep our groceries from going bad, we decided to leave our rig at The Austin Lone Star RV resort. We really loved that the RV park had a gated entry. Since we were not going to be staying there, we felt comfortable with leaving it unattended. After hooking it up to the power, we headed to Brandy and Michael’s house. We arrived a bit later than we had originally planned, but that did not keep us from enjoying every minute of our time there. Noah put on his bathing suit and jumped right into the 65 degree pool and so did all of the dogs! From the pool, Noah got some jumping time in on the trampoline and then we all enjoyed some delicious tacos prepared by Brandy. We finished dinner just in time to catch the sunset on Lake Travis. Michael even let Noah drive the boat😊

When we got back from enjoying some time on the lake, we all sat around the kitchen island catching up and enjoying each other’s company. Before we headed off to bed, we went out on the back patio for some star gazing. THE STARS AT NIGHT REALLY ARE BIG AND BRIGHT DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!
After a long fun filled day, the three of us were ready to turn in for the night by 9. The dogs were also ready to go to sleep after an afternoon of swimming and running around a big backyard. We were up bright and early the next morning so we could head back to pick up our RV.
Next stop, Karnack Texas! Being that our route took us through Waco, we could not resist taking a pit stop at the Silos. We also discovered a world renowned bakery that seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere! If you are ever in east Texas on the I-20 near Lindale, check out Collin Street Bakery. They make the WORLD-FAMOUS DeLuxe Fruitcake. We didn’t try the cake but the cookies and lemon bar were phenomenal!

I am so glad you have enjoyed this amazing state. It has so many interesting sights to see. I can’t believe how close you are right now to Houston. Today is Sat and my only day off, but if you’re close give me call and we can go out for dinner or something. I would have enjoyed being able to spend more time with you guys but one of my Sgt’s was murdered on Monday. He was a great guy to work with. Anyway, I’m sure you know that they have us standing at his house and the funeral home and with the family. The funeral is Wed. They’re all tough losses, but this one was so close to home. Keep us, the Houston Police Department in your prayers, and please, if you’re close, give me call today

How close are you to Caddo Lake? I didn’t know how close you actually were since Texas is such a huge state! We are hoping we will get to see you in Savannah. We will be cutting our time short in Georgia but we will still be there for two weeks. That is so awful about your SGT. We will keep you all in our prayers Uncle Chris. We love you! Stay safe! Update me on the position at the Grand Canyon:)
